We calculate the volume of the room in cubic meters and then we multiply it by 12. (An effective cooker hood refreshes air in the kitchen 12 times per hour). Example: Kitchen room dimensions: 6 meters long, 3 meters wide and 2.5 meters high. The volume of the kitchen room is equal to length x width x height: 6 x 3 x 2.5 = 45m3. Given that the air in the kitchen should be refreshed 12 times per hour, then the extraction rate required should be 12 x 45m³ = 540m³. So the recommended cooker hood should have extraction capacity at least 540m³/h.
